Conformation is the way the animal is put together and how it moves.

Although there are no breed standards for llamas, the ALSA Show Assoc. has a listing of basic positive traits that a good llama should display.

A llama should display good overall balance. The length of the legs, neck, and back should all be in appropriate proportion.
A strong, straight topline should be displayed.
Front legs should be straight - not knock-kneed or bow-legged.
Feet should point straight forward. Angled out is splay footed.
Back legs should be straight - not tight at the hocks or at the feet.
Looking from the side, front legs should appear straight. Rear legs should have a slight angle from the hocks down. Too straight is post legged making the rump of the animal high. The hocks should be straight down from the tail. Too much angle from th
The depth of rib should be appropriate - not too thin.
Long ears, preferably curved inward, should have a nice upward set. Should not be tipped or floppy.
When on the move, the llama's front legs should appear straight - not winging out or making any type of curvey movement. Watching the animal walk away from you, rear legs should be placing directly in back of the front legs and should have a straight movement.
