Ruby passed on to the Rainbow Bridge in April of 2006. Purchased in 1989, Ruby was the first adult female at Shagbark Ridge Llamas. Always totally ndependent and the herd queen, Ruby was a valued member of our family. Very tall and stretchy, she displayed good conformation, long ears, short wool, and a strong, straight topline - a typical and elegant classic llama. Her mothering abilities were superb and she rewarded us with eleven fine offspring. We have kept a daughter of Ruby in our herd, another elegant short wooled classic. We also have a granddaughter who is a gorgeous silky. Ruby was always in excellent health with strong, upright pasterns and fluid movement. The year prior to her death she developed an eye condition called "moon eye" which obscured her eyesight and the ability for her to take care of herself. She passed in 2006.
