During the Exhibitor's Meeting on Saturday morning, the 4-H
llama club would like to share our appreciation of your support of the
Indy Open Llama Show.  Your participation in our annual Llama Show
has been instrumental in the success of our New Llama Barn project.
2008 marked the first use of the new Llama Barn for the Indy Open!  Now
in 2010, we will be able to enjoy the air-conditioning - if needed.

As you are aware, the Indy Open Shows have been sponsored
by the Hamilton County 4-H Llama Trekkers Club and parents.
Since 1998, any profits received from the Indy Open Llama Show
have been put into a special account with the plans to build a llama
barn on the Hamilton Co. Fairgrounds.  In the fall of 2006, our account
totaled $53,000.  Jim then proceeded to work on requesting a grant from
the county Bureau of Tourism and after many submissions of many stacks
of papers, our project was accepted as the recipient of $75,000.  At that
time, Jim proceeded to work with various contractors who provided
much appreciated support, and work began in March of 2007.  The llama
barn, totaling 10,000 sq. ft., is 60' x 176' with a 40' porch on the front.
Additional points include three llama cupolas spaced along the roof, five 18'
doors, all concrete floor, numerous fans, a top notch PA system,  and a
beautiful custom-made llama stained glass window designed and crafted by
Mike Hoopengardner, a llama owner and stained glass artist in our area.

The excitement continued!  Phase two of this project continued in 2008.
Once again, our 4-H Club applied for a grant and we were the recipients
of $60,000 to be used for heating, air-conditioning, and insulation.  Further
progress in the spring of 2008 was the addition of a Rain Garden, a new
practical and beautification application for landscaping using rainwater runoff.

2009 - the project still continued!  Now with all events enjoying the completion
of the air-conditioning and heating, we also have installed clear plastic
hanging strips over all the large door openings.  This enables easy access
without losing temperature controls.  In addition, the interior walls were
partially covered to give protection to the insulation and to offer a finished
interior.  Final grading for drainage and grass seed was planted in the fall.

2010 - The project still continues.  There is still some interior work needed.

In addition the Llama Trekkers 4-H Club has started a scholarship fund for
eligible participants of the llama 4-H project.  Plans are to award up to three
scholarships each year to eligible group members starting in 2010.

The Llama Barn has become a year round facility suitable for all types
of events thus bringing increased tourism to Hamilton Co. as
well as business to hotels, restaurants, and shops.

Entry Deadline - May 5.  We are flexible and gladly
accept late entries, however late fees will apply after this date.
